Jordan C. Kawano, M.D., is a non-invasive cardiologist who is board certified in general cardiology, internal medicine, as well as nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He was born and raised in Culver City, California and with parents whom are both pharmacists has had a lifelong interest in medicine and in helping others. He grew up as part of the West Los Angeles Japanese community, participating in the basketball league and becoming an Eagle Scout with bronze, gold, and silver palms.
Dr. Kawano attended Pomona College, earning his BA in economics before earning his medical degree at Chicago Medical School, where he was elected to the Illinois chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha and being inducted into the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society. He completed his internship and residency at Yale University prior to completing his general cardiology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He joined Pacific Heart Institute in 2018.
He has special interests in patient care, patient education, guideline driven evidence based medicine, and noninvasive cardiac imaging. His hero since childhood has been John Wooden and he has been raised to “Be more interested in finding the best way, not in having your way” and aims to practice medicine with this in mind. He believes that the most effective way to practice is by sitting with a patient and answering all of their questions while formulating a plan together. This approach provides the best path for improving a patient’s health while simultaneously limiting confusion and reducing their future risk.
In his spare time, he closely follows Chelsea Football club, collects vinyl records, and spends time with his family.
