A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Cabeen attended
Harvard College
and
UCLA Medical School
. He was an intern at
UCLA-Harbor General Hospital
and a medical resident at
UCLA
. His cardiology fellowship was also at UCLA with additional post graduate work in cellular electrophysiology at the American Heart Association Research Laboratory at UCLA. He established the Electrophysiology Service and Laboratory at
UCLA Hospital
and subsequently at
Saint John’s Health Center
in Santa Monica.
At Pacific Heart Institute he practices consultative cardiology and cardiac catheterization with sub-specialization in electrophysiology (rhythm disorders) and pacemaker and implantable defibrillator implantation and management.
He is chairman of the cardiovascular division at Saint John’s Health Center, serves on the cardiovascular committee at
UCLA-Santa Monica Hospital
, and is clinical professor of medicine at UCLA.
His other interests and activities include ocean sailing, rowing (competing nationally and internationally), cycling, expedition travel, photography, guitar and reading.
